Embellishment is a a series of video and drawing portraits where a commercial tourist portraitist is commissioned to depict the artist. The sitting is documented both by the drawing and video footage that captures in a straightforward manner the process. Working in a range of locations including The Rocks area of Sydney, and 42nd Street in New York, the work highlights the process of embellishment whereby the artists face is stylised and embellished in specific ways. This mode of interpretation is brought into contrast by the presentation next to the drawing of the video footage which identifies a different version of the sitting.
